Raipur: A shocking incident unfolded on VIP Road late Thursday night when a Russian woman, allegedly intoxicated, crashed her car into a scooter carrying three young men. The victims—Neelkamal Sahu, Lalit Chandel, and Arun Vishwakarma—sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Car Driven Recklessly While Sitting on a Man’s Lap
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was seen driving the vehicle while seated on a man’s lap, raising serious safety concerns. The car bore a “Government of India” tag, further fueling speculation. Locals quickly intervened, stopping the vehicle before police arrived at the scene.
Government Lawyer’s Car Involved
Investigations by the Telibandha police revealed that the car belonged to Bhavesh Acharya, a Public Prosecutor for the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). However, at the time of the accident, it was being driven by his friend, Nodira, a resident of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Reports indicate that both Nodira and Acharya were heavily intoxicated. The duo had left a pub and were heading out to buy cigarettes when the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m.
Chaos and High-Voltage Drama at the Scene
Following the accident, Nodira created a scene by accusing bystanders of stealing her phone, which she had misplaced. Despite repeated police requests to cooperate, she continued to argue and resist.
To assess their level of intoxication, both the accused were sent for a medical examination.
Legal Action and Investigation Underway
Telibandha Station In-charge Narendra Mishra confirmed that a case has been registered for reckless and high-speed driving. Additional charges related to drunk driving will be applied based on the medical report. The vehicle has been seized, and further investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the injured victims, who work in video production, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
This shocking incident has sparked public outrage, with many calling for strict action against reckless driving under the influence.
